Merlin is a British fantasy-adventure television series created by Julian Jones, Jake Michie, Johnny Capps, and Julian Murphy. The show aired on BBC One from 2008 to 2012, spanning five seasons and 65 episodes. The series is based on the legend of King Arthur and follows a young Merlin, played by Colin Morgan, as he arrives in the mythical city of Camelot to become an apprentice to Gaius, the court physician. Merlin discovers that he has magical powers and must keep them hidden while serving as a servant to the young Prince Arthur, played by Bradley James. As the series progresses, Merlin becomes more and more integral to the court and helps Arthur on his journey to become a great king.Merlin was praised for its unique take on the Arthurian legend, strong character development, and impressive production values. The show also features a talented supporting cast, including Anthony Head as King Uther Pendragon and Richard Wilson as Gaius. Merlin was a commercial and critical success and has developed a loyal fan base.
