Pride and Prejudice is a British romantic drama film based on the classic novel of the same name by Jane Austen. The film was released in 2005 and directed by Joe Wright, with a screenplay by Deborah Moggach. It stars Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy. The film is set in England in the early 19th century and follows the story of Elizabeth Bennet, the second eldest of five sisters from a country family. It was praised for its visually stunning cinematography, strong performances, and faithful adaptation of the source material. The film was a commercial and critical success, earning several award nominations, including four Academy Award nominations.
