Tom and Jerry is an American animated franchise created in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. It originally started as a series of short films produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), featuring the rivalry between Tom, a house cat, and Jerry, a mouse. The show became popular for its slapstick humor, cartoon violence, and clever gags. Over the years, the franchise has expanded to include television shows, feature films, comic books, and video games. The original animated shorts are still beloved by audiences of all ages and have been re-aired and re-released many times over the years. The characters of Tom and Jerry are considered to be iconic and have become an important part of American popular culture. The show’s success is largely attributed to the chemistry between the two characters, as well as the clever and creative ways in which Tom tries to catch Jerry, only to be foiled time and time again.
